Back to normal – whatever that is!

For some it hasn’t come quickly enough, for others it’s over way too soon. Either way, we have to face the fact that for most of us, it is time to get back to the usual routine. Kids back to school, parents back to work, shorts packed away until summer 2017 and weekends become our time for relaxation and all things fun.

Most psychologists will agree, that routine is an important part of all of our daily lives. It provides numerous benefits, some of which are obvious, some not so;

1.Lets you know what next to expect in your day

2.Keeps you efficient

3.Keeps your momentum

4.Gives you a sense of control of your life

5.Lets you mesh your schedule with others

6.You end up finding a faster way to do things

7.Can help you sleep

With these benefits, what sort of things should be part of our routine? Here are a few key suggestions….

– Getting up in the mornings. Keep to your same routine time, even at weekends and during holidays. This is a big one!

– Going to bed at nighttime. Keep your routine bed time during non-work days to make your return to work easier.

– Eating times. Your body enjoys routine eating times. It will help with sleep, your weight, bathroom regularity, to name just a few.

– Exercise. If you do not have a routine for this, it will not happen. You know this one is really true!

– Leisure time. Similar to exercise. However, this is not just important for you, but those who are included in your leisure time – Often a spouse or children.

– Chores. A messy house = A messy mind. On par with exercise in that if you don’t schedule it, it won’t happen!

There are plenty more we could add, and if you gave yourself a few minutes thinking time we are sure you can come up with your own – which are specific to your needs! As with many things in life, the best type of help is self help. Give it a try!

Handbag Safety

Some crimes appear in the same format all over the world. Pick Pocketing is one of them. When doing research for the design of our clutch bags, we learned that the clutch bag, is the least likely to be pick pocketed.

Here are a few suggestions on how to help protect yourself against these thieves:

  • Always keep your bag closed properly. If it has a closure, USE IT!
  • Carry your bag tight against your body. Try to avoid back pack style bags as you should never let any bag stand out behind you. Particularly, never let it stand out behind you OPEN. If your bag does not have a closure on it such as a clasp, zipper, etc. avoid taking it out.
  • If you have a bag with a strap, wear the strap diagonally across your chest, with your hand resting on it in front of you.
  • Always keep your purse / wallet / money at the bottom of your purse. This makes it more difficult for opportunists to get to your money.
  • Never hang your bag on the back of a seat in a public place. Try and keep it on your lap at all times. If you must put it on the floor, keep the bag between your feet, with the strap wrapped around the seat your are using.
  • When using public transport or are in a busy, public area always have your bag in front of you.
  • NEVER leave your bag in a supermarket trolley or in a baby’s pram.
  • If your bag is snatched, let it go. Nothing inside it will be worth the physical damage that could happen to you, if you don’t let go.
  • Learn to carry only what is actually needed.
  • Carry only small amounts of cash.
  • Take only the credit cards you actually plan to use.
  • Leave expensive jewellery at home.
  • Don’t carry anything that is irreplaceable unless you absolutely must, even if it has no cash value.

Most importantly use your common sense!

We hope you never have the experience of being pick pocketed and with the use of our tips, you probably never will!

New plastic canvas designs

As popular as our kits have become, we constantly have to think of new product ideas and designs. Our supporters have come to rely on us for product innovation and inspiration. We cannot let them down!

Our ideas usually start by one of our team being inspired by something they have seen on TV, a magazine, whilst out on a walk in nature or even whilst in conversation with a friend or family member. Our latest concept was inspired by a family member, who was after a particular size and colour clutch bag. She had tried everywhere online and in the local shopping mall, but to no avail. So, she asked us if we knew where she could get one from.

If you can’t find what you want – then make it yourself!

Our design for the clutch bag fitted all of our family members requirements. We are sure it will fit yours as well! The kits, like all of our others, will come with everything you will need to make the clutch bag. We sourced a reliable and sturdy clasp, and just as our photo frames are, will be washable. We have also sourced a colour coordinating liner for the bag, so there is no catching of keys on yarn.

This is our first design for a bag, and we are now busy working on others. Just like our frames, we do not sell anything that we have not made up ourselves and tested for intended use. So keep on watching our website for new designs as they become available.

Christmas is coming …

We’re now less than five months from Christmas, and the majority of retailers are well-advanced in planning how they will handle their busiest time – Are you?

keep calm christmas plastic canvas

Act like a Pro and make your life as easy as possible by planning well in advance of the festive season. By planning in advance, you avoid the increased pricing especially created for the season, the slower delivery systems due to high volumes, the crowds in the shops, the panic buying because you don’t really know what to buy, and the list goes on…….

Thinking into the future allows you to make sensible choices, and not only lets you buy items online, but ensures that you receive them with plenty of time to spare. It also stops you from over spending, which we can all be tempted to do when in a Superstore or department store, surrounded by gorgeous things.

If you intend on making your gifts this year, you will also need the time to find and buy your supplies and then time to actually make your items. No matter what you are making, you need to leave enough time for any prep work and failures that may occur. e.g. Paint not drying properly, fragile items being accidentally dropped, etc, etc. These things happen and you don’t want them happening when the stores are out of stock of your supplies, and just a few days before Christmas.

Many people end up shopping last-minute because they put off the inevitable. Instead, make a plan with solid goals, dates, and timelines. (For instance, shopping will be done by December 1st. I will put aside 2 evenings, twice a week for 2 weeks to accomplish this task.) Leave some wiggle-room in case something comes up, but don’t keep making

excuses. It can help to have someone who is good about shopping to keep you on track.

With your gifts done and dusted and out of the way, your friends and family will wonder how you did it and how you keep so calm and organized throughout Christmas.

Remember, being prepared is half the victory!

Bye for now!!!!!
